Oken will have a fast phased combat featuring aerial attacks and constant use of auras to defeat several enemies at once.

Enemies can be:

  • Humanoid: This kind of enemy will have an standard attack combo and possibly special abilities. This kind of enemy can wear armor.
  • Non-humanoid: This kind of enemy will be generally smaller than standard humanoid enemies and will only have special abilities/attacks only. Examples include: spiders, bats, serpents, giant monsters, etc. 
  • Boss: This kind of special enemy does not have any kind of general design rule.

Oken will have the following attacks:

  • Standard Attack (3 hit combo)
  • Crouch attack
  • Jump attack (2 hit combo)

Oken will also be able to consume his auras to do special attacks which are:

  • Aura punch (knocks down)
  • Aerial aura attack
  • Aura explosion (knocks down)
  • Damage dash

These attacks are detonated by pressing the aura button and the kind of attack is decided upon the current action of the character. The relation between action and the kind of attack performed is:

  • Standing: Aura punch
  • Jumping: Aerial aura attack
  • Crouching: Aura explosion

Knock down:

Oken can  knock down enemies using certain types of aura attacks. When the player used a knock down attack on a humanoid enemy it will fall to the ground for a moment. Not all enemies are vulnerable to this kind of attack.

Oken can also be knocked down by a special attack of certain types of some enemies. The effect is the same, the character will fall to the ground for a moment and the the player will recover control of Oken. To avoid slowing down the phase of the combat this is not supposed to happen very often.
