A lot of trouble using scala-ide with Eclipse 3.5.2 64Bit-Version on Ubuntu 10.04 amd64
Since I try to use the "new" scala-ide plugin with Eclipse 3.5.2 (64Bit) on Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 I've got a lot of serious trouble. Instead of listing all the single bugs here, I just want to let you know about the general problem.
So, one workaround could be to download the 32Bit-Version of Eclipse and additionally install the ia32-sun-java6-bin package to be able to run Eclipse.
With the current build (03-Jul-2010 20:44) it's still buggy and really slow, but at least Eclipse don't crash suddenly ;-)

I couldn't find the option 'vote' in this ticket tool so I raised the Priority for this defect. I am using Fedore 12 x64 with Eclipse 3.5.2.
The actual performance of the plugin together with crashes (although rare) and 30-60s freezes (more often) is the single reason we can't actually move to Scala in our project.

Have you followed the heap configuration instructions given in the [[troubleshooting guideExampleName]]? In general, the more heap you can give Eclipse the better, and on a 64bit platform you should be able to give it a lot.
