Scala editor shows multiple lines with syntax error when there are none.

With a new workspace, create a scala project test, then a package com.nsm.play and then create a scala source file test.scala for object Test within that package.
Every line line in the editor is marked as having a syntax error when in fact there are none, the problems perspective shows no errors and you can run the application successfully.
The syntax error on the first line is "Syntax error on tokens, ClassHeader expected instead". A screen dump is attached.

Please read the troubleshooting instructions here. In the first instance it's usually better to take issues to the scala-ide-user mailing list, unless you're absolutely sure you're seeing a bug.
I did in fact go through all the trouble shooting instructions as well as search for similar problems. Given that a problem this obvious would surely have been noticed previously I thought it worth bringing to your attention. I have now tracked the problem down to being the inclusion of the Groovy plugin 2.0.1.
