display dialog when backend dies
we could show a dialog to the user when the backend dies abruptly, promting to try to restart it or rstart the whole Eclipse.
Restarting just the backend is a little tricky, especially if the old backend is spinning at 100% cpu and 2 Gb of RAM -- can we detect that and maybe kill the process?
