Cursor position wrong after expression in interpreter console

After entering an expression in the interpreter, the cursor is not updated to be at the next scala> prompt, but remains where it was after pressing enter after the last command.

This ist the behavior of the console where the interpreter is running.
As you said, the cursor remains where it was after the statement has been evaluated. But it moves to the right location as soon as a character is entered.
The interpreter view is a more integrated version of the interpreter. http://scala-ide.org/docs/user/features/scalainterpreter.html

The coolness of the feature ExampleName you mention does not make the behaviour described by the OP any less annoying.

I agree. Since the REPL functionality is still available in the Scala IDE, this is a valid ticket and there is no reason for closing it. I'll re-open it.
That said, I honestly don't see this going to be fixed any time soon, unless someone from the community contributes the fix (which would be very welcomed!). By the way, have you heard about the Scala Woksheet plugin? IMO, this is the best way to do REPL-like experimentation in the Scala IDE, maybe it's worth a try ;-) If you are interested, read the Worksheet Getting Started guide
