controller : stacked patterns and samples grid selector
A simple grid interface for manually starting and stopping a pattern.
When on grid button would glow or flash. When off it would be dimmed.
Each grid button can be assigned a midi control and volume level control.

In this case I am referring to a grid of buttons that can be used to trigger the various patterns. The is separate from the pattern sequencing grid. The buttons would be larger and shinier and the column would be roughly 4 - 10 buttons wide. On each button the pattern name would be displayed. When pressing the button it would trigger the pattern on/off.
This would be a way to trigger multiple sets of patterns to play at the same time.

The current interface is perfect as a stand alone pattern sequencer. This feature would require an additional interface for triggering multiple stacked patterns asynchronously. The buttons would simply enable on/off and the patterns would loop until the trigger button was turned off.
lmb would be simply on/off.
Optionally the triggered pattern would play just once with ctrl+lmb or a specific number of times depending on the number of button ctrl+lmb presses. Ctrl+rmb would drop the decrement the number. The number of times the loop would play back could be displayed on the button under the pattern name and shift+lmb could reset the loop count to a zero. If playing unlimited number of times the number display would be replaced with an icon for unlimited loops.

IMHO this is something that should be done using an external app that interfaces with Hydrogen via Midi
this can already be done using a hardware controller using the SELECT_NEXT_PATTERN action, so it is a matter of finding some software midi controller that can be customized for this.
