GPS Devices & GPS Babel

GPS Babel is being used to import data from GPS devices.
In testing to date:
GPS Babel works well with the GPSmap 60CSx & an older 96c model.
GPS Babel does not work for the GPSmap 62 device. However for this device, the driver treats the GPS as a mass storage unit thus it should be possible to read the waypoint and track data directly from the files stored on the device. This will make importing GPS data more complex and I wonder what happens with some of the other GPS models.

As there will likely be multiple files in the SD card, a way is needed to let the user decide whether to import all, to import the most recent, a date range, etc.
The issue will probably arise with other GPS units that work in mass storage mode. Here is a list of models known to work in mass storage mode http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Mass_Storage_Mode.

As Rich says, previously none of the 3rd party software were able to deal with 62s but DNR Garmin have just posted a link with their new software that seems to work with 62s - http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/mis/gis/DNRGPS/DNRGPS.html
I'd be curious to know how they do this to save us time - the 62s will likely be the GPS unit of choice for the foreseeable future (in our sites at least).
All other models (that we use) work fine with 3rd party software (we use DNR Garmin but it sounds like GPS Babel also fine).
Does anyone know what category the Garmin marine plotters (6000/7000 series) fall into? These also do not appear to be supported by GPS Babel.
