"Can't retrieve JPQL proposals due to an internal error" on autocomplete
Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers (Indigo) and installed Scala IDE 20.0.beta07.
The autocomplete doesn't work and the following error appears in Eclipse's error log:
eclipse.buildId=I20110613-1736
java.version=1.6.0_17
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=win32, ARCH=x86, WS=win32, NL=en_US
Framework arguments: -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product
Command-line arguments: -os win32 -ws win32 -arch x86 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.jee.product

This looks like a clash with another plugin's autocomplete (JPA JPQL support).
The autocomplete works in java files.

Maybe you could ask another plugin's devs on the nature of the crash, since it happens in their code and we can't see it?

I checked Eclipse Javadoc and it seems that JPA plugin has a bug and doesn't handle situation when context for autocomplete is null.
I created a bug on Eclipse WTP project:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=351196
My concern is however that because of that bug the Scala IDE won't work for many developers who use Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers (Indigo), even though it is probably not Scala IDE's bug.

As a workaround, use other Eclipse edition than "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers", e.g. "Eclipse IDE for Java Developers"
I'll close this as invalid then.
