Currently, the option "Scala > Logging > Redirect standard out/err to log file" is checked by default. However, not only does this redirect the Scala IDE output to a log file, it redirects the output from all plugins to the Scala IDE log file.
In my particular case, this meant that a plugin that I was expecting to produce log output to standard out was instead proving totally silent, forcing me to uninstall plugins one-by-one until I realised that the Scala IDE was eating the output.
The option should only redirect output from the Scala IDE plugin itself.

Off by default would be better, but equally, I can see that it's very helpful for the Scala IDE output! You could always add a "[Scala IDE]" prefix to the log messages, and filter standard out based on that. They could be stripped before redirecting to file, as well.
