Real Time tracking generates data with zeros
1) Select RealTime/StartRealTimeTracking
2) The RealTimeWindow appears and the table starts filling with rows of data. But the Lat/Long X/Y Proj and other fields have zeros for data.

When its plugged into the computer, I dont see what kind of fix it has. When I unplug it and turn it on, it has a fix right away.

I have an Oregon 400 and in the Setup menu there is the option to change the interface to "Spanner Mode". If you do this, the next time you plug it into the computer it'll ask you if you want to go to mass storage -- say NO. Then real-time should work for you.
If you don't have the Spanner mode on your gps then I'd suggest contacting Garmin to see if you can get it installed.

I tried it with my 62st in Garmin Spanner mode. Was prompted for the Mass Storage. Said No, but still couldnt get it to work.
Furthermore, In Garmin Spanner mode, I couldnt connect.

If the File/Load from ArcMap prompts me for the layer to load from, then it would seem to follow that the File/SaveTo Arcmap would similarly prompt me to save to a layer or create a new named layer. Instead, I can only save to a new layer. Then I need to copy/paste into an existing layer.

Saving to ArcMap saves a file and then pops it into Arcmap. You can try appending to an existing file (shapefile, etc) but if that same file is loaded in ArcMap then it may have a lock on it. This is one of those non-ideal things that we need to live with for the time being until someone has the time to enhance it.
