Uploading waypoints to Garmin etrex 20
I am using a windows XP system, not sure if I can install to registry, probably no administrator rights.
I am trying to upload points from a ESRI .shp file to a etrex 20. I use the DNRGPS program as the go between. I use File -> Load from -> file and choose my shapefile. Using the upload option in the waypoint menu does put the points on the GPS, but the unit will not read them. I can verify that it does transfer by using windows explorer to view the USB storage on the garmin. The points do make it onto the unit as a .gpx file.
To get around this error, I loaded the shapefile to the DNRGPS program, saved it as a .kml file, cleared the data table, then loaded the .kml file into the program. Uploading the kml file to the GPS worked without an issue, I just don't understand why I have to add a step between ARCGIS and the GPS.

This is a bug. See bug 204 for a workaround -- https://www.assembla.com/spaces/dnrgps/tickets/204
