Multiple GPS transfer, ArcMap Shutdown
I’ve been transferring selected polygons from ArcMap to a Garmin 76 and also an Oregon 550t using DNRGPS. After successfully doing this on the first GPS, I tried transferring to the second. I closed the DNRGPS and reopened it to establish a new connection (the Oregon is USB connected and the 76 is in a com port) which does recognize it but when transferring the same data, gives me an error type box which I attached. To make matters even stranger, if I touch anything on ArcMap after this, it immediately closes down with a serious application error box popping up.

Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, I have also seen "RPC_E_SERVERFAULT" errors on occasion, but never with anything repeatable. They do not appear to be bugs in our code, but rather we are somehow aggravating an instability in ArcMap. Is your error consistently repeatable? if so, I will try and replicate it, and isolate it. If I can replicate it and isolate it, I can ask ESRI to help find a solution. In the mean time, a work around may be to close ArcMap when you are closing DNRGPS.
It is consistently repeatable, I was able to do it 3 times straight. It seemed to me like an ArcMap issue but I wasn't sure. Another work around could be to clip those polygon features that need to be transferred rather than just selecting them and transferring. Either way, thanks for you help.
I'm having trouble reproducing the problem.
I assume your using File -> Load From -> ArcMap -> Layer
then selecting the polygon layer, and clicking OK
Once the data shows up in the table in DNR GPS, ArcMap should be out of the picture.
If I do this multiple times with polygons selected or not, and close DNRGPS, re-open, etc. It seems to work reliably.
Can you please clarify the procedure, and verify if you can induce the error without the transfer to the GPS.
