GUI Design Discussion

Looks great man! Glad you guys have a plan. As for James' task I apologize, I only referred to it as a 'tree' because that's the swing component (JTree and JScrollTree) Chris extended to build the two trees for the Visualization and Tests panels. We won't need that functionality so tree was the wrong word to use. It won't be a tree at all, just a list of all the applications. Sorry if I made things unnecessarily confusing! Let me know if you have any more questions!

About the tree you mentioned in DeBolt's task.
Don't you just want to have a list of project names there? (We could get this information from the .txt file that Green created for acoustic (it also contains the location of all the folders/files that we need)
Or did I misunderstand something?
Thanks!
Christoph

Green, great news! We can definitely use James on getting some of this stuff prepped for our presentation.
Okay, I've been doing some more work and I'll upload my changes to the SVN soon. For now, James and Christoph I would get familiar with the code and if you have any questions please ask! I'm still getting used to it too but I've been asking Chris and the other visualization guys anytime I'm unsure and they've been extremely helpful so use them as resources as you need them.
Going forward here are the tasks for each of us as I see them:

In the AndroidElectricGUITAR directory, there's a folder called data. What I need you to do is create a tree for the Home panel similar to both the VisualizationTree and TestTrees that that Chris made for the Visualization which will display the names of any folders we have in there. Check out both of those classes (TreePanel.java and VisualizationTree.java - they're both in the Visualization package) for tips. If you have any questions whatsoever please ask me or contact one of the guys who worked on the visualization. I've attached an image as to how I see this thing looking, sorry for the rough quality:
[cid:CEE61B57-AD5C-4DEF-8BF9-84A4E53A9974@hsd1.md.comcast.net<mailto:cid%3ACEE61B57-AD5C-4DEF-8BF9-84A4E53A9974@hsd1.md.comcast.net>.]
Don't worry about anything besides getting that Tree populated with the names of the folders in the data folder for now.

You said you wanted to work on getting the process set up for uploading a new application. The more I've thought about it the more I like the idea of populating the main canvas with text boxes for the user to input the information for this new application (if you're still onboard with it). I've already had a bit of experience in dealing with the canvas so if you need help in creating a new layer for it (which might be the easiest way to go about it) or anything else, definitely let me know. Otherwise, I believe you understand what you're assigned.
As for me, I'm going to finish getting the Home canvas set up the way we want it and start working on getting the other tabs to load whichever application gets selected from the Home panel tree.
I'm down to meet up anytime after 2:00 Mondays and Wednesdays if either of you feel like working some of this stuff out would be better in person. There's also Assembla for chatting so let me know if you guys want to set up a meeting there anytime as well.
If either of you have issues with your tasks email me and let me know. If I don't hear from you I'll assume you guys are all set and I'll see you Tuesday!

Good Afternoon,
DeBolt as of now, I can handle the Wiki duties as at this point I rather have you work on ElectricGuitar at this time. With that being said, you are free to work on any task Orlove and Christoph send you.
Have a great day,
Matt Green

it should have a copy of acoustic guitar where you can look at the .txt file that holds the project information.
