To exclude an area from processing use the mask function.
The best way to exclude a small area is to use the Mask->Include All menu option to make a mask that includes everything. Then select the eraser tool (or menu Mask->Erase, or press F2) and then draw arounf the unwanted area to exclude it.
In time resolved analysis, make sure that Apply Mask is ticked in the Pre-processing options panel (menu Options->Pre-processing) to make the mask active.
