Completion overwrites
Content assist in Java editor has possibility to chose between "completion inserts" and "completion overwrites". Personally I prefer "completion overwrites". This is not available in Scala editor.

Patrik, what's the option for overwites? It's really simple to implement IIRC, and I also think it's a worthy addition.

What do you mean by "option for overwites"?
Look in the settings for Content Assist in Java Editor settings.

In scala-ide:3ba9e0a08ee29b0281ceef6a018e6e83325601dc Implement completion overwrites
Allow completions to overwrite existing code. The user can
toggle between insert and overwrite modes by pressing `Ctrl`,
just like in the Java editor. This also respects the Java
editor option for preferring inserts always.
In addition to replacing the existing identifier, we also suppress
the linked mode for arguments (since likely the existing arguments
are not valid, but also we can't erase them, as they may be useful).
This is the same behaviour as in the Java editor
