Personal/miscellaneous experience:
Currently attending Vermont Technical College for Software Engineering. Worked under IT for college 2 years:
- Developed Window on the World, a look-up client for college personnel. Developed back-end XML database in Python (stackless) and Java. (Available: https://wow.vtc.vsc.edu)
- Developing VTank, an online multi-player 3D tank shooter game. Client is developed in C# using XNA, master server is developed in Stackless Python, game server is developed in C++. (Available: http://vtank.cis.vtc.edu).
- Administrated RedHat CentOS servers for the college for websites, subversion repositories, Window on the World servers, VTank servers, and for classes. Was responsible for “locking down” servers to make them as secure as possible.
- Technical leader of the Summer of Software Engineering (SoSE) 2008 and 2009 team for Vermont Technical College.
Other:
I currently attend college as a Software Engineer, so I’m forced to work part time from home. The hours are somewhat flexible, please contact me for further information.
My main interest lies in the networking component of software. For example, during the VTank project, I was responsible for writing both back-end servers and creating an API for clients to use to connect to those servers and interact with them. I prefer the ‘tracer-bullet’ approach when programming; that is, working in iterations to get the entire system up and working as fast as possible. Our team has been put under the pressure of having weekly customer reviews, which has assisted our iterative process.
