Deferring vs. "Defer date is after due date. Please edit and adjust due date before deferring."
Currently, the message from the subject is shown whenever I try to defer some action to a date which is past the due date of the action. I clearly understand the idea behind this:
If it is due today, why can it be postponed to tomorrow? If it can be done tomorrow, why is it due today?
However, I don't think this limitation as implemented is good. Actions are supposed to indicate stuff you can do right now (in the correct context). However, it may be the case that some action cannot be done in time. This happens quite often, as the action was planned without knowing about all the (more important) limitations in the future.
In my case, I need to do something at home today, but I know that I won't be at home long enough to do it. With that knowledge it should make a lot of sense to defer the action to tomorrow so that I can concentrate on the actions that are actionable today/now.
Currently, I have to remove the "due date" by hand (which is annoying and costs time) and then defer the action. This works, but I'd also like to see "action was due yesterday" when I look at my list tomorrow.
Mu suggestion: Change the error message to a choice dialog in the style of "Do you really want to? YES/NO".

OK, that is a good workaround. I still think that it should not be needed, though :)
