Trying to run
gem update therubyracer
handles libv8 in a much faster way but still fails, albeit differently. I filed a new ticket against therubyracer: https://github.com/cowboyd/therubyracer/issues/236

This should be a fix based on the libv8 and therubyracer tickets, but I haven't yet tested it because I don't have access to my usual box at the moment.
