Display confirmation box with a description of the recurring todo that is going to be created
When creating a new recurring todo, display a javascript popup box with a text description of the recurring todo that is about to be created. The popup box could have an unchecked, "don't show this again" option that would suppress the popup from being displayed when creating future todos. A means to uncheck this confirmation suppression option would need to be provided should a user want to restore the popup.

As I mentioned in the ticket #1270, I'm a -1 to this idea. It should be completely obvious to the user how a recurring todo should work. If the user can't figure that out when creating a recurring todo, then we have more work to do to enable the user.
I'm not trying to say that recurring todos are easy, they're not. Just that our designs could use more work in order to make it look easy. :)

I am all for improvements as I agree it is a cumbersome UI. However, this is an open source project with limited resources and sometimes I think it is necessary to make the most of what we already have.
The itch of mine this is trying to scratch is that after you create a recurring todo, you cannot see all that it created. You do have the recurring todo, but you also have a regular todo that is generated that you cannot see as it is now in the tickler or in the active todos. Also, if you just update the todo (and I am not certain that this always the case), it does not go and apply your changes to the active todo that was created by the original recurring todo settings.
One follow on thought I had when I read your push back was to display this text representation of the about to be created recurring todo in a space at the bottom of the form. As you moved from field to field adjusting the settings, the text would be updated in real time. This way would eliminate the obtrusive popup box, but still provide the information. I am not sure if this is realistic or what the performance implications are, but I wanted to throw it out there. I suspect that the popup would be less work to create, but would be offset by not having to add a block the popup setting to user preferences.
Please let me know what ideas you have to improve the situation.
