Cannot play music when no internet available

If the internet available setting is set to AUTO and there is no internet connection then it is not possible to play music. The function internet_check is hanging and ignoring the specified timeout.

An internet check should also be added for the enhanced Now Playing screen to use existing fanart if no internet is available to download more.
