There should be an option when importing records to prevent duplication. If record with the same name- box pops up asking “Do you want to overwrite?”

Added a warning icon to the record editor:

When importing from csv or xml and there is only one other record with the same name you have the option of deleting that record and replacing it with the current record:

Using 6.0.a4, I imported a single Record and was presented with the Overwrite/Save/Skip option and all works as expected.
When importing a record when more than one already exists (second example) the "Save" option imports nothing and the "Skip" option imports the record.
Side note: Records with duplicate names cannot be exported without overwriting the existing one.
