In the JDT Organize Imports preferences, where the user specifies the ordering of packages, an asterisk is a wildcard for not-otherwise-mached package names. This permits, for example, sorting Java imports last, by specifying that all other packages sort before java packages.
The Scala IDE's copy of this preference setting does not recognize the wildcard.
This mismatch in behavior means that the Scala IDE "Organize Imports" cannot sort certain packages after all other packages.
Workaround: Specify all possibly imported top-level package names explicitly in the sort order. This is a fragile workaround, because there are now 1034 valid top-level domains.
