Error on Startup and Download
Hello there,
When Starting DNR GPS an error flashes up on the screen and then disappears without me having to click on the OK button: gdal_csharp - The type initializer for 'OSGeo.GDAL.GdalPINVOKE' threw an exception. - SetupGDAL
The program continues and It does identify my GPS correctly: garmin - GPSMAP 62s Software Version 390
When I try and download anything from the GPS I get another error: ogr_csharp - The type initializer for 'OSGeo.OGR.OgrPINVOKE' threw an exception. - GPS_Download
I have reinstalled the .NET 4 framework and applied the latest Microsoft updates to it - No change.
My program version is DNRGPS Version 6.0.0.8 Build Date: 18/02/2012
My operating system is Windows XP Professional, up to the latest updates and patches from Microsoft.
Thanks for any help.
Arthur.

Chris,
Tried 3 different machines at work with the 6.08 and all have the same error. At home ( one that works ), i accidentally clicked on the new 6.09 version and got the error, i then closed and found folder where 6.08 was and clicked 6.08 exe ( took a long time to load ), but then was all good. Extra info
Machines at work are HP Desktop and 2 Hp lappys, all have net 4 and XP pro ( also have removed net 4 from my hp lappy, copied net 4 install from working machine and reinstalled, still no good ). Running out of ideas, HELP

Just some more info here:
I have installed dnrgps 6.0.8 on my work machine (Windows 7 Ultimate) and it works fine there.
I found dnrgps v6.0.0.9 in another thread and tried that on my Windows XP Pro machine and I still get the same errors.
I've tried with both firewall and virus scanner off. On the Windows XP machine I am the administrator. I have tried copying the dnrgps folder to C:\, C:\Documents and Settings\<userId> and to C:\Documents and Settings\<userID>\Desktop. The results were the same everywhere.
I saw you asked this in another thread: I have Visual Studio 2010 Express installed on this machine.

Can you try installing this to see if it helps: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=5555
Yes, I've got the same error. I, too, am running WinXP Pro x64 with all updates and .NET4.0 and lots of resources.
From comments by Anonymous on 2/25/12, it looks like it's going to by and XP problem, since it looks like it runs fine for him on W7.
I'm dead in the water till this is fixed. Please give this high priority.

I, too, have the same issue. I'm running Vista 32-bit on a government computer. I have .NET 4 framework installed. I'm using a Garmin 62s unit. This error was generated in DNRGPS v. 6.0.0.8 and the newly released 6.0.0.11.

Does not work for me. With new version 6.0.0.12 I get errors.
Error on startup:
Window title: .ctor
Window text: dnrgps - The type initializer for 'dnrgps.Project threw an exception.
Error on attempt to exit, however DNRGPS will not close. Have to kill DNRGPS with Task Manager to get it to go away. I can upload/email the error details on request.
My system:
Dell T7400 Windows XP Pro SP3 x64 16 GB RAM and plenty of disk.

Sorry. Same error.
I placed it in the same folder alongside the other items from release 6.0.0.11.

Chris,
Tried version 12 and same error. Downloaded version 13 and get a lot more errors ( see screenshots for more info ). On every instance the exe is pasted into the DNRGPS folder and the DNRGPS folder in the document and settings / application data folder in windows is deleted. I do have admin rights on this machine.

I've posted version 6.0.0.14. Here's what you should expect to see:
Message Box saying "Beginning of Project Code"
Message Box saying "Exe Path: <your EXE path>"
If you are still getting the PInvoke error it may look a little wordier now. If you get this error please post its contents. Also, I've received word from someone else that was getting this error that they installed the C++ Redistributable Version 2008 on their machine and that fixed the problem for them. Could you check to see if you have this installed and, if not, install it ( http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=29) . (andybill, this is different than the 2010 redistributables that I recommended you install in the other ticket)

Hello all,
I had similar problems as discussed in parts of this ticket, and elsewhere, and I think I finally found the problem! I suspect that the issue has something to do with the Environment Path(s) not being set correctly? I know in the older versions of windows there was a limit to the Path length and I have a lot of programs installed so I imagine mine is pretty long. Anyhow, what I ended up doing that fixed the problem for me was to go into the dnrgps\GDAL\bin folder and copied the dll files there and pasted them into the root of the dnrgps folder - i.e. same folder where the dnrgps.exe file is located. This seemed to work on my end! I also slectively deleted each dll that I copied - restarting the program each time - until I narrowed it down to the "libeay32.dll" file which seems to be the one causing my problem. So you may only have to copy that file, but I decided to keep all of them in the new location just in case it is the PATH issue and the program needs to access one of the others... There may be a better way to do this, and I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else finds a solution, but after MUCH searching on this site and others, and some experimenting on 5 different machines this worked for me! Hope it helps...
