Enemies and Bosses Document
This page is for all the enemies and bosses in this game. Enjoy. - Animator/Mechanica.
ATV and the Battle-Planet Arena (Animator/Mechanica)
This concept is meant to be as a first boss. Basically, its some crazy guy riding on an ATV with a machine-gun attached trying to kill you and/or run you over. The planet also plays a big roll as a giant terrian arena, with giant turrets hidden under the ginat bumps of the planet. They open up to form the turret, and must be destroyed.
S.S. Armada (Animator/Mechanica)
The S.S. Armada was actually a very old concept at the time. It is a giant battleship, consisting of 3 small laser turrets and one giant Ion cannon. It's backstory was that it was a docking ship for various small fleets when it served for the Space Navy, but it was seized by Space Pirates. It's is sideways-backwards L shaped, with a docking ramp at it's longer part, and an Ion cannon at the tip. the 3 turrets are aligned at the side.
Balls (Animator/Mechanica)
This boss is a very small metallic balls (smaller than a moon), with 1 green eye. This small metal ball is connected with 4 small rocky planets (a little bigger than a moon) which act as 'limbs', causing it to smack full force with the power of attacting gravity between 2 celestial bodies.
Polybius (Animator/Mechanica)
This boss is really more of an experimental concept. Really, this boss is just a titanius person (imagine someone heavily armored and wearing a titanium pail on their head, with black, thin eyes). This boss is an attempt to try and distract the player from attacking it, ranging from all types of tricks like minor disorientation, boss duplicating (trying to kill the real boss), and just plain psychological manipulation (but not to the point we'd make the player suffer, seriously. There have to be limits). All this boss can do is shoot lightning from it's fingertips, if the concept is well-implemented, it could make the boss much harder than it could appear. Maybe a minor acid trip.
I like it, but use something more abstract than a big person, like a big triangle or something. ideas: sudden teleportation, tilting the screen, zooming in and out, pressing left makes you go right. Give more attacks than just a lightning bolt. [matt]
Really, they don't qualify as attacks, but effects on the player (which is assumed to be caused by the boss). What you previously stated is what I wanted to do, but not in an annoying fashion, like that right-left and sudden teleporation. That's cruel. [Mechanica]
Condog's awesome anacondra thing Spacobra (Mechanica/Animator's refined version)
It is a giant green cobra with a metallic jaw and glossy-red eyes. It digs through the planet and stikes when least expected, and bites. It's tail may generate spike and whack away our brave protgonist with a single blow.
call it anacondroid [matt]
It's a cobra, not an anaconda. It's not a robot either, don't let the metallic jaw throw you off. [Mechanica]
Cobra or not, "Spacobra" is a terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible name. Go with the fantastic name Anacondroid instead. [LV]
How about 'Mechanicobra' instead? [Mechanica]
Krackious and Revenger (Animator/Mechanica)
make them work together somehow. I'm not sure I really like this at all though. (like the rest though) [matt]
It's a final boss concept(s), but you could fight both of them together, if you want. [Mechanica]
-Revenger:
A robotic moon that has 2 turrets on each side. It flies and shoots you, as it also pulls bombs and has a generated laser cannon in the center. Supposedly, it transforms into a robot and has 2 turrets in each side, and does not only shoot, but jump, kick, and punch. The laser cannon still works, but this transformation has not been finalized.
-Krackious:
A robotic planet that tranforms into a Giant Robotic Space Kraken with 5 arms, 1 eye. It's tentacles have 1 sharp spike, giving it the ability to strike into a planet with full force. It's head can work as a ram, charging into a planet, and on the side of it's head are force-fields. This fields can generate electricity, and can shoot lightning in various moments. To defeat it, shoot the side button shown at it's side (completely forgotten in the model) to disable the force field to shoot the head. If not disabled, the shot would just ricochet from the force field.
Animator/Mechanica's Schrodinger-Paradox.
An astronomical phenomenon, which involves a mutated blackhole/wormhole. At first, the player must run from the blackhole portion of the boss. At the end, the blackhole appears in front of the player, and turns into a wormhole, throwing excess matter at you (and occasionally turning back into a blackhole for a short period of time). In order to close it, you must shoot at it.
Megalithica (Ignate)
Idea I had about a year ago, tweaked it a bit as a boss idea. Megalithica is a planet with an advanced laser defense system. The lasers fire outwards perpendicular to the surface of the planet, from towers called megaliths. They can either periodically fire, or just continue firing. The megaliths are fixed on Megalithica's surface, they follow the rotation of the planet, sweeping their lasers around, which looks like spokes on a wheel, basically.
Simon (GamingWolf)
This boss idea is actually rather cliche but here we go. 4 colored moons (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green) are rotating around a planet you begin on. As planets signal a response you are travel to them in the same order they 'respond' in bleeps and bloops. As the battle continues... the moons could rotate faster and faster as they are generating patterns. Also after a pattern is given... an entity of some sort will begin chasing you as you are approaching the correct moons. Other ideas include additional colors, more beings chasing you, and moons wandering around space or perhaps just occasionally rotating in the opposite direction.
Kamele-gone 5000 [Better name ideas appreciated!] (Ad)
Player is located on a small central planet, with 5 larger planets surrounding it. A giant robotic chameleon fades onto the outer planet closest to the player, and launches a quick attack with its tongue, which sticks to the planet for a few seconds. To damage the chameleon, you must shoot it in the tongue. After being damaged sufficiently, it enters its second attack phase, rapidly teleporting between random planets whilst firing lazers out of its eyes, again aimed at the surface of the planet. After visitng all 5 planets, it will again launch the tongue attack from the planet in range of the player. The third attack phase involves the outer planets disappearing, and the chameleon orbits helplessly around the central planet. Avoid it's limbs, and shoot it in the tongue some more. (Image-based version.)
Enemies And Obstacles:
NB: MAKE NOTES ON HOW MUCH DAMAGE THE ENEMY SHOULD DO, ITS APPEARANCE, HOW IT MOVES, AND WEATHER IT RESPAWNS, DOESNT, OR IS INVINCIBLE (YOU CAN HAVE OBSTACLES THAT ARE DESTROYED AND INVINCIBLE ENEMIES, FOR EXAMPLE).
Ground Sweeper [geti, concept by condog]
a circlular body that slowly (or quickly) floats around a planet or predefined area with a lazer firing perpedicular to the ground. Should this be invincible or respawning? does medium damage.
I think invincible. Obstacle more than enemy really. [matt]
Crawler [geti]
damn weak little crawling crab like beings, hang around in packs. attack with small blades respawning, do minimal damage.
Big Crawler [geti]
Big brother of the Crawler, has lazer infused claws (ie can fire a short distance beam from its claws), takes more hits, generally more dangerous. does medium damage, respawns.
Flier [geti]
A small flying drone with a projectile weapon, either a homing missle or gravity affected bullet. aims with a visible lazer pointer. see http://forum.therealn.com/download/file.php?id=336&mode=view for concept art containing this enemy. hangs around in small groups. respawns, does low/medium damage.
Railgun Satellite (Ignate)
Early concept. A satellite that orbits a planet near an asteroid belt. Everytime its orbit gets near asteroids, it takes them and fires them onto the planet's surface. To avoid it, simply hide on the side of the planet not facing the asteroid belt, since the satellite cannot attack until it goes around on its orbit again to the belt. Invincible, damage depends on asteroid size.
Spike Door [Destiny]
More of an object really. A door that slams down (imagine a giluteen(forgive spelling)) when the player runs under it. Invincible. High damage. Run character can get through safely at a full sprint.
eeh, i suppose.. could be a tad shocking, a little IWBTG-ish. perhaps, if done well, like you can see it through the cross section or something. updating section title in light of this [geti]
Magma Inducer (GamingWolf)
Here's something I was thinking about. A fiery face that resides in the core of planets. It can cause eruptions of lava in the direction it faces. Since it hangs around in the core you can't really hit it (unless an alternate method is developed). Alternate versions include ones that fire in a pattern, only one direction, and ones that try to home in on your position. Perhaps this would be a good boss idea [Destiny]
Well if you want to do it that way... you could have smaller versions as regular enemies and the biggest one being known as Vultus... since I just looked up face in Latin and that seems cool to me. [GamingWolf]
This is a damn cool enemy. i like it as both a generic enemy and a boss (massive one).
and vultus is cool.[geti]
