Version 1, last updated by Steve Lee at Jul 17 07:25 2009 UTC

Peter and Steve met and Steve demoed what we have except skype and we had a very useful discussion which clarified a few points.

  • I explained how the framework is as open as possible and uses web page and CSS styles at lowest level to give ultimate flexibility but with simpler page definitions as well. I have also made sure resources and config can be on web as well as in local files.
  • Music currently plays files in the users directory but will add a level of folders for artist selection with user browsing and selection UI. Will use folder/filenames for display. I mentioned there is also a facility to specify specific media which can be local or web. Cover art will not to be used and so is to be removed from the spec.
  • login support is needed and will be provided – a way to track button selections a user has made and check them against required. Also need user independent ‘home login’ page (shared pages would be useful too).
  • Permissions are not currently required as long as config is not accessible through UI.
  • A new element type to be added with additional spoken text and that is spoken on screen display and on touch. Speech to use SAPI.
  • Internationalisation may be added if there is time to do so. I explained Mozilla has good basic support but we need to take advantage of it. Text gets pulled out in local specific text configs and screen definitions use ‘identifiers’.
  • Facilitator supplied files will live in a SIM_WIN folder at same level in file system as other Windows users (assuming no permission issues). Currently in “Application Data”
  • Peter will provide example pages to be delivered.
  • Terminology to be decided.
  • We agreed to meet up around or for deadline.
