Installing
1. Add the MaxKontrol.jar file to your max path : MaxMSP 4.6\Cycling '74\java\lib
2. Start Max and open the seq8.pat patch.
Configuring Max
The seq8 patch uses an external midi clock for timing information and sends out midi notes.
The patch is setup to use midi port 't' for the clock and sends out on port 'o'.
Either change the rtin and noteout modules to match your setup or configure max midi preferences for those abbreviations.
In my setup midi yoke port 8 is t and midi yoke port 3 is o
You can of course replace the rtin section with a metro if you want your own clock :)
Controlling the sequencer
The sliders and knobs control the parameters for the 8 steps in the sequence.
You can change what they control by cycling through the 3 modes using the SETTING and MESSAGE buttons.
The main lcd will display either
P V
V D
D P
The first letter indicates what the knobs control and the second is for the sliders. P is pitch, V is velocity and D is duration
The SCENE and EXIT buttons can be used to change the sequence offset, SCENE goes to the left, EXIT to the right.
The pads are used to store and recall presets. The top 8 pads recall presets and the bottom 8 pads store them. The currently selected
preset will be highlighted.
