FullThrust
Full Thurst is a space naval wargame designed by Jon Tuffley of Ground Zero Games. It is designed to be played on a tabletop using miniatures, much like traditional wargames. The advantage of naval warfare (terrestrial or interstellar) is that there is little or no impact from terrain, greatly simplifying movement and mapmaking.
Since Ground Zero Games generates revenue primarily from the sales of miniatures, they have very kindly released the complete rules free (for non-commercial use) on the Internet. The current ruleset is known as Full Thrust 2.5, but is actually a combination of Full Thrust 2, Fleet Books 1 and 2 and More Thrust. The compilation is also available (unofficially) as a single document known as Full Thrust Remixed.
There is an ongoing project to revamp, streamline, and reissue a new complete ruleset as Full Thrust 3. While significant progress has been made on “FT3”, there is no firm date for its release (as of September 2008).
The Full Thrust Game Server is actually based on FullThrustLight, a simplified version of Full Thrust 2.5 designed to be forward-compatible with FT3.
