We're building a install profile for Drupal that makes deploying a community site easy - for Web hosts, Drupal developers and consultants, community leaders, etc. Weaving together the themes, modules, and code required to create a truly-integrated, socially RELEVANT experience that's optimized to encourage community participation. • Start adding to the features list
• Offer to help assist the organization, communication, documentation
• Contribute or build your own modules to integrate
• Spread the word to other Drupal developers and designers
• Partner, donate, or offer angel funds to support development costs

Random Notes:

• The person (user, member) is at the center of the community experience
• Tools for that person and his/her groups are added like spokes
• The hope is to integrate OpenSocial, OAuth, and OpenID.
• Adding an abstraction layer for Drupal's normal administrative interface is relatively key for acceptance and broad adoption
• The project will receive its official name once it is deemed ready to ship (at the 1.0 mark).
• Milestones have yet to be set.
• This project is to remain completely under the GPL.
• Dogfooding will happen live at http://buildingfor.us/
• This is not Yet Another Social Network or Blog application
• The goal for this project is to give a community an integrated set of tools to empower their members
• Code sprints for this particular project will be happening at least monthly in the Seattle area

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and we're just assembling those parts (with you) to make a more complete community experience for sites the world over.
