Tools

Tools are add-in applications that support high-value, specialized work.  Currently, we are supporting software development work.  We intend to bring you applications that you need in your work, "really on demand".  That means that you click a button, and two seconds later, you have a new tab in your space, linking to the tool that you need, with the correct team permissions.

Tickets - Assembla Ticket's tool is a bug and issue tracking system that allows your team to neatly manage any bug, defect or issue. Keep your tasks organized and prioritized. Set default values for certain fields and create new ticket fields according to your needs.

Trac - The popular issue tracking system for software development projects, in an instant-on package with one-click permissioning for commercial and open projects.

Subversion - The popular source code management system, in an instant-on package with one-click permissioning for commercial and open projects.

Wiki - Use the wiki for communicating with a Web audience, requirements tracking, collaborative editing, or tracking shared knowledge.  Each space gets a wiki with a choice of WYSIWYG, textile, or markdown content formats, unlimited pages, diff and rollback, and integrated search and permissioning.

Chat - Assembla Chat allows your team to focus in a specific project. Now featuring real-time streaming and multi-way video chat. You can see what your team has been working on by checking history. Ticket updates and uploaded files will be showed in the stream.

Support Tickets Tool - Enhace the quality of your customer support services. This tool allows your customers to post bugs and requests in the support tab and by email without the need to add them as a team-members. No assembla account needed, no logins!

Stand up - See what all team members are working on from one page. Resolve problems quickly, roadblocks show with a bright red "needs" sign.

FTP Tool - The FTP tool pushes code commits to an FTP server or SFTP server. You can use it to deploy and update Web sites.

Track and Bill Time - Team members cab enter their working hours in Tickets, the Time tab in a workspace, or their personal Time page (https://www.assembla.com/my_tasks).  Managers can use the Time tab in a workspace or a Portfolio space to view and export time reports

Build tool - The Build Tool is an Assembla Pro tool designed to integrate deploy environments into your space. This tool allows you to control and monitor your stage deployments within your Assembla environment, through tool settings and Stream page, receive mail notifications or view build results in your RSS reader

General Collaboration

Spaces -  Personal spaces represent you and are linked to your profile.  Help-wanted spaces represent opportunity postings and responses.  Project spaces hold the tools that your team needs to get your work done.

Permissions - We keep track of the groups that you belong to, give you access to the tools, contacts, and information that you are entitled to, and protect your workspace.  Spaces can be public, restricted to a team, or visible to selected groups.

Search - When you do a permissioned text search of the spaces, wiki pages, and flow articles in your network,  you get the public and the private world in one result list.  Also lists spaces by tag, so that you can find jobs, products, and collaborators.
 

Files - The simple file manager keeps pictures and other wiki attachments, and helps you share documents and other files. You can also add files from your Google Docs account.

Flows - Flows is a discussion feature, which you can use for public forums or private discussion.  However, it  is also much more.

Private Messages - Securely discuss jobs, projects, and business deals with private messages on the flow board.

RSS Output - Subscribe to RSS from any public space flow page (great for monitoring discussions),  or tag page (great for monitoring job postings and product postings).

Feed aggregation - Add feeds to the flow.  Get information from all of the great Web sites that output RSS, include your blog, integrate with applications like Trac that output RSS, or make your own aggregated feed.  You can moderate the flow to publish something of high value.
 

Email alerts - email alerts from flows and email to flows enagage you in collaboration through your normal email account.

Enterprises and Professional Networks

Private Network Version - You can license the software to build your own private network.  The private network version includes additional administrative features, including approval of registrations
