I am President of Assembla, bringing open source processes and applications to the world of enterprise software. I work with startups on strategy, product architecture, and technical team recruiting. My current project is launching Breakout, software for working together at Internet scale, which packages a lot of what I have learned in the past few years so that others can do it.
I previously founded PowerSteering Software, an enterprise software company and ASP that provides project portfolio management and collaboration tools for thousands of users managing billions of dollars worth of projects at companies like Raytheon, EMC, Tyco, and Textron.
Before that, I founded Cambridge Interactive and bootstrapped it into a significant Web consulting firm, launching e-businesses for Giga (now Forrester), CERA, Forum, and other leading research and advisory firms.
In my career I have launched more than 20 new product lines, designed hardware, software, and information services, worked as a Wall street analyst, and done research into genetic programming, the automated evolution of computer programs.
I live in Needham, Massachusetts with an extremely tolerant wife and four kids.
I blog on Wetware, Men among the Machines
