Road Database Maintenance

Each center may have a database which describes its roadway network.  Each road in the database may have an associated list of cross streets.  A center's road database may be viewed and edited from within the operator client.

To view a center's road database, right click on a map and select View/Cross Streets from the pop-up menu.  Icons representing each defined intersection will be placed on the map.  If the database contains a large number of roads and cross streets it could possibly take several tens of seconds for all of the intersections to be plotted.  Note that a center's roads database can only be viewed when the used is logged on to that server.

To hide a center's road database, uncheck the associated center's menu item under the View/Cross Streets pop-up menu.  The removal process may take several tens of seconds to complete.  A faster method is to simple close and then re-open the map.

To delete an intersection from the database, right click on the associated cross-street icon and then seelct delete from the pop up menu.

To modify the properties of a cross street, left click the icon, or right click and select properties from the pop up menu.

To modify the properties of a road, right click the road name on the cross street properties window, and select properties from the pop up menu.

To add a new road, click the "New" button on the cross street properties window.

To add a new cross street, right click on the map and select Add New/Cross Street from the pop up menu.  The menu item for the associated sever will only be enabled when the cross streets for that center have been made visible.

Each user has his own copy of the roads database.  When the roads database is edited, the changes are applied only to that user's local copy.  The local road database may be exported to by selecting Road Database/Export from the File menu on the main toolbar.  To import a road database created by another user, select Road Database/Import from the File menu on the main toolbar.  To update all copies of the road database on every user's machine, email your updates to the developer.  If you have made changes to the roads database which you would like to keep, you should export your database to a file so that it will not be overwritten by the master version when the next update is applied.
