We give you tools for managing a software development team. It will take you about 30 minute to set up the project, but our infrastructure will save you days of administrative work, and eventually give you access to unlimited development resources.
This page explains how to:
- Create a project space and set its access permissions
- Invite your team members
- Set up Trac and Subversion for managing your code and issues
- Recruit new team members and service suppliers
Register or log in. Click on "Create a new space", and you will be taken to the Create a new space process.
Creating a Project Space
Name and Description
Give your project a descriptive name and a URL name. The URL name will be used in your Trac, Subversion, and wiki URL's, and it cannot contain spaces.
Check the boxes for software development and milestones if you want to use these tools.
Use the tags form to add some tags that describe the technology, industry, and function of your software project.
Click "Next".
Security
Do you want this project to be publicly visible, or private?
If the project is private, then set public access to "None" and set Team access to "Edit".
If the project is public, then set public access to "View" or "Edit", and set Team access to "Edit".
If you have a private project, but you want to do public recruiting, you can create a public space later for recruiting.
Click "Next" to continue.
Team
You can invite multiple new members to your new space. Type the email addresses of team members, separated by commas. Also note that if the e-mails match with existing members, they will be added automatically.
Click "Next" to continue.
Wiki Settings
Use this page to choose your wiki settings.
Click "Next" to continue.
Appearance
You will be able to customize your space's appearance here. Click "Create" and you will have a new space ready to host the development of a Software Project!
Recruit new talent
The process for recruiting team members and suppliers is documented on the
recruiting page.
Adding Tools
Assembla offers more features than just Trac, Subversion and Milestones. These tools can be added to your space through the "Admin" tab of your space. Click on the "Admin" tab, then on the "Tools" tab, and add whatever tools you need for your space.
A list of our tools and features and their documentation can be found
here.
I choose not to log in or create a space (yet). I did see a bit on privacy.
