Setup Email Alerts and RSS Feeds

Alerts are system-generated notifications that something in the workspace has changed.  Assembla allows you to choose whether you would like to receive workspace alerts by email, RSS feed, or both.

Why do I get email alerts?

When you become a team member in a space, we set your account to receive email alerts about all events on that space. So every time you join a space you will receive emails unless you specify otherwise.

How do I turn off email alerts?

You can change this setting using the Settings panel at the top of the Alerts page in the space.

Notification Settings

You can turn off specific classes of alerts, or turn off all email alerts by selecting "Email me: Never". (This page is in a space with alerts settings. Click here to see the page to turn off alerts.)

No more emails

Or, just go to one of our emails. At the bottom of every email is a line that says "Click here to change or remove your alert setting for this Assembla space." Click on that link, and it will take you to the Alerts page in the space.

Why should I use RSS?

Many of our users prefer RSS feeds because:

  • Feed readers organize alerts by workspace
  • Assembla customizes the feed generated so that you can watch the activities of specific team members
  • Separating notifications from emails reduces inbox clutter

How do I get a feed reader?

If you are new to RSS feeds, we recommend starting with FeedBurner, a free feed reader. You can download it here. You can add feeds every time you see this icon (try it now) Assembla Blog
