So you just started using the software and you have no idea what to do?  I have heard this a lot and I have over chat explained the various features of OpenRPG.  OpenRPG is a feature rich software that includes chat and a map.  Let's take a look at the basics.

Chat:

Using Chat is pretty easy.  Type words, press enter, read words, type words, press enter.  We know the process of chat like we know the process of talking, because chatting is talking via the internet.  The Traipse Chat window has some extra features.  You can see the Alias Lib drop down, the Filter, the dice, and some other buttons. Let's focus on these for now.

Alias Lib

You use this when you want to speak as a character, but you want your name in the player list to stay the same.  This is a tool GM's use when they are acting as other characters.  You can find the Alias Lib window under the Windows menu option to create Alias's and then you can use the drop down as a quick way of getting to those aliases.

The Filter

The Filter is a device that is used when you want to change the way to talk, but not have to worry about typing like that.  If you want to sound like a roudy pirate, then pull out Roge or Pirate from the Filter drop down and type away.  You can also add your own filters if you want.

The Dice

The dice are pretty simple.  You see a 1 inside a box, a row of dice, and then an empty box.  The dice bar works like this.  The 1 in the box represents the number of dice you want to roll and the empty box holds any modifers.  So you can change the 1 to 3 and add +3 to the empty box, then press the d8 button and roll 3d8+3.

The Map:
