New: Now trailr can also do invites! With customized per-group invitation code.
What does people say about Trailr?
it makes the time spent on Flickr so much more pleasant and effective.
a nice add-on [...] and eventually trailr should be a built-in tool in the flickr itself
So far it seems to be working beautifully! I love the customize option and am amazed at how much it has simplified (and speeded up) my commenting and ability to invite.
I have nothing bad to say about your Trailr. Works perfectly and really makes commenting awarding, and inviting pictures so easy and effortless. It was, at first, a little difficult to figure out how to customize and make it work, but I was drinking during my initial run with it. That could have been it. Regardless it works like a charm and I LOVE it.
Great utility and it makes traveling around Flickr so much easter. . .
What is Trailr?
Trailr is a Firefox plugin. It enhances your Flickr experience by adding useful features.
What is it able to do?
- Automatically adds per-group customomized graphics in invites and "seen on..." comments added to photos;
- It enables you to invite a photo you like in a group you like in just one simple click! And by using per-group customized graphics, without the hassle of copying nor pasting any code;
- Automatically shows the owner of a photo where the commenters have found it, thanks to "seen on..." messages;
- With Trailr you can add voice comments or whatever else you can hear :-) to your photo! (since now it has been entrusted to another upcoming script: Playr)
Who did it?
Pierre Andrews developed the original "seen on..." feature leaving a footprint (or breadcrumbs) of where you found a photo when you comment on it.
Simone Diolaiuti extended the "seen on..." feature with per-group customized graphics and messages ability, he also developed the "invite" (over all the user subscribed groups) function and addded the ability to automatically use the customized graphics as wanted by group administrators. Finally he coded the glue that keeps all Trailr features togheter and working.
Recently Martin Heimburger has joined in: he developed the porting to make Trailr works with the new flickr photo page.
Other code contibutions have been contributed to Pierre Andrews's "seen on..." feature by Marcos Kuhns and Marco Bernardini.
If you want to contribute code enanchements please send a flickr mail to eagleglide or post a related picture or a thread to Trailr St(u|a)ff group. If you'd prefer other type of cotribution, please see How To help section.
Hey! Come on! Some screenshot!
An example of OurOwnInvite Trailr feature

An example with OurOwnSignature Trailr feature

everything below the gray line has been automatically inserted by Trailr and was customized by the group administrator in the description paragraph of the group, one time for all, one time for everyone (at least for those that will use trailr plugin). If a group is not trailrized yet by the administrator, you can still save your time by saving invitation and comment codes. You only need to click [!]customize link:

than a screen like this will be shown: a window where you can manually save invitation and comment code once for all:

How the comment "console" looks like

How to install and use it?
common use
First of all: if you have an old version of Flickr Refer Comments (the one that place the (?) on your comments) enabled, please unistall or disable it.
Then here are a simply 3 step howto:
- if you don't know Firefox, get it: you will love it;
- install Greasemonkey add-on and restart Firefox;
- go to Trailr Flickr Group then click the latest release link on the "(a group admin) says" message box, then wait for the install button to become clickable so click it. Done!
Now you can go flickring as usual.You can comment as usual without any needs to think about the automated breadcrumb or group signatures
Note that nice automatic group signature will only work if the group administrator enabled the trailr feature in his group. If you are taking part in groups that do not have this feature enabled yet, go and ask the admin to do it, pointing to this page, or simply click [!] customize button, it will be easier find and save once for all the code snippets.
