In its current form, J2AB is released under to the public domain. This means that if you download it, you can use it in any project you like without restriction. You can also download and modify the source code and are not obliged to contribute those changes back to the project. If you do decide to modify the source and think your changes would be useful to the Android community, then please consider submitting them back to the project. By submitting code to the project you are implicitly making it public domain and putting it under the control of the J2AB project.

The source is still covered by copyright, so you can’t legally take code written by someone else and say that you wrote it. The license may change in the future, however that will only affect releases after the date of change, not the version that you download now.
