Hydrogen is an OpenSource, pattern-based drum machine that triggers audio samples contained in a drum kit.

It may be used for beat composition and rendering in realtime performance and in the studio. The pattern sequencer allows song composition from layering mutiple beat patterns on top of each other.

Important Notice: h2song files made with a certain HydroGen version will most likely open only with that version. Please make sure you note which version you used from creating/editing your composition.

Hyderogen in the production workflow

According to my understanding of the filed, on dynebolic, HydroGen can be used as part of a track production workflow for beat construction. Cool drum kits can be created for it by chopping existing rhythmic loops using ReZound and the beats created from those drum kits by using HydroGen can be mixed with other audio loops in realtime performance using SooperLooper or composed into an offline compostion using RoseGarden and/or Ardour. Finally, all this can be mastered in realtime using the LADSPA Rack and/or mastered for CD using Audacity and finally burned using K3b.
