AVGDC Club Constitution

Purpose of Club:

The AV Game Development Club is designed to integrate people's interest in video/computer games with the skills necessary to create them. The club focuses on the aspects of basic video/computer game creation including but not limited to: computer programming, digital arts, music/audio, along with the necessary teamwork skills to realize a final product. This club will make a positive impact to AVHS because it pools the enthusiasm for games as well as the technical and teamwork challenges members will have to face in order to achieve a playable game. Amador will also benefit in having more skilled students in the field of computer science and have applicable skills in the industry and beyond.

Structure of Club:

The club will be headed by a Producer (President) and a Manager (Vice-President). The roles mirror the roles of the video game industry by providing administrative support and serving as club officers. There should also be a Public Relations or Liaison Officer to be the bridge between Leadership and the public as well as publicizing the club.

Members of the club will be partitioned into groups known as Dev Teams of three or four with one person being the Lead Developer. Each Dev Team will be working on a game chosen by themselves or assigned by the Producer. The Manager will meet with Lead Developers to assess progress and provide suggestions at specified times. Each Dev Team and every member should register on the club website/forums where FTP access will be available to them to upload project files for easy storage and sharing. The Producer and or Manager will determine specific details.

Club meetings will generally serve as training sessions where Dev Teams come as a whole to discuss technical details or to receive help on their projects. Also meetings serve to brainstorm different game ideas and ways to implement them as well as discussions on the game industry. Outside of official club meetings members will have to work on their projects on their free time and can get together unofficially.

At the end of the year, club members will gather together with their completed projects for a fun gathering where each Dev Team gets to showcase their creations and have members vote on it for the best game award.

Types of Games Produced:

The games will be 2d arcade such as Pong, Pinball, Pocket Tanks, and advance onto platform/sidescroller games like Mario or Space Invaders.

Feasibility of Club:

This club requires more involvement than the majority of clubs out there. Therefore it is important that each member show some form of interest and dedication beyond a simple college app.
