It was debate if the feature should be removed from GHI or stay in. There were a few protests against removing it, so it stayed in its current shape. Now that we are developing GHI v.2.0 we have several choices regarding the equipment display: a) Remove it b) Let it be as it is now c) Let it be, but support it with dynamic actions d) Try to improve the concept / design and get it better integrated. If option d is chosen, then I suggest the following approach: 1) Analyse what is not working in the equipment display and why it does not have a good 'feel' to its use. 2) Consider how it can be improved. As we can;t put a 3d node in the game world we can think of some other method. So as a radar system in the minimap or its own frame showing whats near by. Could also make nodes 'instanced' akin to how archology works so nodes are stolen from others. Picking random areas in a zone to use may take some work but is doable. On nodes, i know someone who sells enchanted seeds at a bi-weekly harbor market on my server, while i don't want to steal to much from here i could try to get a list from him to use for plant types. Could also hook into the actual blizzard node loot frames to add loot to things. * Tools:* Each race could have a diffrent tool with some pros and cons for each. Plain Axe/Pick used for Orcs/Humans. Standard use time and durability. Wood Working tools Dwarf Pickaxe, stronger durability, can harvest in less time, possibly makes node resapwn slower. Dwarf Axe, stronger durability, possibly makes node respawn slower Gnomish Mining laser(needs clever gnome name), removes base rock around minireal to leave only the resrouce, tool has a long recharge time, the node after harvested even longer. Gnomish Wood Harvester, a mini remote controled spider tank with a saw, prone to need repair, quicker harvest time. Draenei Crystal Pick, made of strong crystal and infused with energy, sometimes chips but able to get to resources in slightly less time..Heavy tool. Draenei Crystal Axe prone to chibs, resonates on hit to shatter wood instead of cut, may take longer to harvest, heavy. Not sure what to use for Worgen, but they may have sturdier tools. Night elf Wisp(wood/ore harvest)takes a bit longer to harvest, perserves node (but gives it a cooldown before you can harvest it again), allows for hands off harvesting (possibly come back to 'loot' the wisp for resoruces) Forsaken tools are akin to human tools but perhaps made of bone. Troll tools(axe (think stone lashed to wood), pick (same as axe but sharper) both could possibly be made of stone (trolls did have a pretty bult up civilazation at one point)), weaker durability but effcient at getting the job done. Tuarn Axe/Pick, Sturdier and heavy, tuaren have always lived off the land so the tools should be able to harvest effciently. Goblin 'pick', its dynamite, blows up the base to leave behind the resource..but also blows up the node removing it. Goblin shredder, prone to repair, effecnt at harvesting wood, needs fuel. Enchanted Axe/Pick, for bloodelves, think like enchanted brooms, a hands off tool to keep hands from getting too dirty. *Containers:* Just fo sake of cleanliness may want to make seperate profession containers just not to clutter the GHI back. Possibly have upgradable pack animles. Stashes can be a kind of container but more like an item cache to be used in a city, shop or other place. Housing may end up being its own addon but can have storage and such as well. we also need to find good places for houseing to be. The more dangerious the area the house is in the less secure it is. *Skills:* Besides adding to currently in game from blizzard we can add out own. Need to figure how how many skills a character can have at a time (like how blizzard does) Unique skills such as Lumberjacking Woodworking Farming Drink making(Brewing,wine,etc) Apothcary/Medical Runeworking (Custom runes,wards and glyphs..My demonhunter uses this ALOT for binding demons, including some full body (or small area) ritual tattoos) Some underhanded skills such as Stealing Bounty hunting Assassinations the one for assassination and bounty hunting can be iffy, that almost places a quest system almost in that you would need to kill or find a set number of creatures or players Now we can't kill players of the same faction so for that we may need a kind of assassination minigame, where your assinged a target and have to find them and knock them out/disable them. In rp knocking out or disabling someone is good for preventing them from taking part in key events for a ser period of time Though there may need to be a 'cooldown' on how often you can target someone or someone can be targeted. Speaking of minigames like that, a neat framework that could be added both for preset and people making there own in a sandbox mode is a minigames framework to make some skills interesting. Like stealing:using a codebreaker style minigame to get into a chest. *Mounts:* I am a mount addict, so i think the idea of hitching posts in cities would be neat. May need to think of ways to prevent forgetting where you hitched you mount (unless you rp it as a stable person getting your mount at a hitching post location ... Valet Mount parking?). In places where you can't hitch, possibly leading you mount around though honestly that could be rped out just as well. Mount training, if you have don't the quest in Vash'ir to break in the sea horse i think this would be AWESOME to put in as a kind of minigame, while we can't track or control player movements from scripts we could use a sytem of buttons and having to hit the right one at the right time or be dismounted. I was working on a kinda system like that but never finished with my GHI items and nightsabers. the reins i had (after training) had a fatigue system to track how fast you were going (walk run/speed YOU CAN TRACK THAT) the faster you went the more fatigue the mount would loose until it got too tired and dismounted you. standing still regained fatigue. I mean we would have to be careful of certain things such as combat, and FLYING (as amusing as dismounting someone flying would be!)
