A tree file browser has much the same function as a file browser: to browse directories, select files, filter and initiate file operations.

However, a tree file browser also allows for expanding and showing sub directories and all their files in the same window.

Most commands that work in File browsersBrowsers will also work here (selecting, navigating, initiating file operations).here.

A Tree File Browser can also be one in a pair of partner browsers, where the Tab key swaps between them. Another useful function is to browse a the directory under the cursor in the partner browser. To do this, press Shift-Tab.

There are a couple of commands that are unique to the Tree File browser:

  • * Zoom in folder – This changes the root of the tree so you will only browse the current folder and below. Keyboard shortcut: Enter.

  • * Zoom out folder – This does the opposite, after having focused on a child directory, go back to the previous, higher root. Keyboard shortcut: Backspace.
