- ruby, rails, ruby on rails, oss, linux, Web Development
After 8 years as an ASP.NET dev, switched to rails / linux / oss 2 years ago. I’ve got a few sites behind me, which can be found under projects here http://pointgallium.com. What can I do? Working with Cucumber, RSpec preferably, I can take a general concept for a site, work with the client to write features/scenarios to get a reasonable backlog, then start churning out features until the client says ‘stop’. I know how to set up a fresh install of linux (ubuntu, centos, freebsd) for serving rails apps. I deploy with capistrano, usually use mysql on production, sqlite3 on development. I’ve worked with several authentication/authorization scenarios, but right now I like acl9 with authlogic. I’m familiar with compass/blueprint/sass and plenty of plugins and gems common in the rails world. I also have experience deploying to heroku, and I’ve been on a team of agile volunteers associated with railsbridge.com – we use pivitoltracker.com, now I wouldn’t want to do a project without it, or something very similar.
